Wild in the Country is off

After suffering the indignity of having their pride and joy festival slammed by Bjork the organisers of the Wild in the Country gig have announced the show will not go on, having cancelled the whole thing.
In a statement, the coordinators claim poor ticket sales and the decision by one the event’s top backers to pull out have meant those in charge have been left with no choice but to scrap it.
The unfortunate few who did buy tickets can take heart from the fact the organisers are going to make every effort to reimburse you.
In a heart-felt announcement, the bodies behind the gig said the wobbly economy has made the festival its latest victim.
"Unfortunately, Wild in the Country has become the latest in a series of festivals that have suffered from a unique and well-documented set of market forces this summer," the statement said.
Other event’s to bite the dust as a result of the credit crunch include the Wax:On Live in Leeds and Redfest in Surrey.

This is the biggest pile of dung a festival could have cocked up on! Not just the face that Wild in the Cuntry was cancelled - the fact that no one is willing to give us back booking fees. I have rung most outlets to find their stance on this, including Renaissance, and no one is willing to give back the £4.50 booking fee PER TICKET! Full refund my arse. This means that some poor sods who have forked out for 10 tix are out of pocket £45 - not to mention people who have pre-booked hotel rooms, transport, flights, train tix etc…. not refunding booking fees in this instance is SHAMEFUL to Renaissance, Rough Trade and all other outlets who think charging not just £1 per ticket bf, but £4.50, justifiable in the 1st place - WHAT A BUNCH OF WANKERS… i know who i won’t be supporting in the future.
