Icelandic oddball Bjork has pulled out of her only UK festival appearance this year, meaning those heading to this weekend’s Wild in the Country do just to see her will be left rather gutted.

Fans of It’s Oh So Quiet will get exactly that after the singer decided the stage arrangements at the Hertfordshire festival were not up to standard and as a headline act, she couldn’t possibly perform in such shoddy conditions.

In a statement she said she is: "extremely disappointed that this show will no longer go ahead."

Tricky’s former squeeze went on to heap the blame squarely at the feet of those behind the event.

"Organisers … have been unable to secure any staging, sound and lighting for this festival, making it impossible for the headline artists to perform."

To rub salt into British wounds she has also pulled her gig in Sheffield tonight (July 2nd) because of health reasons.
