If one band can claim to have taken dance music by the short and curlies and come up with something that made the industry sit up and take note then it has to be Bristol collective Massive Attack.

When Blue Lines dropped many moons ago it’s offering of fresh and unique tunes propelled the group to stardom and made household names out of Tricky and Shara Nelson.

Yet something that has rarely, if ever, been touched upon is why everyone ever associated with the group has left feeling bitter and resentful.

Well, Karma Coma king Tricky, never afraid to say what’s on his mind, has shed some light on the subject in an interview with datatransmission.co.uk.

"It’s 3D … he’s always wanted to be a pop star and the Wild Bunch weren’t like that … 3D’s very ambitious. He’s a control freak. He wants to be a superstar … That’s why he’s the only one left," he said.

Bristol’s baddest 40-year-old went on to add that Shana and Mushroom were forced out of the band because 3D saw them as too much of a threat to his inflated sense of importance.
