After growing weary of festival déjà vu ravers are seeking shows and events outside of Blighty and turning the whole thing into a jolly holiday while they’re at it, according to one guru.

Ross Purdie, editor of Virtual Festivals, claims veterans have had their fill as far as home-based shows and are travelling further afield for something different and a holiday at the same time.

Throw in better weather, cheaper tickets and fresh scenes and the festival abroad is an attractive proposition, Purdie claims.

"Most people have done all the big ones here - Glastonbury, Reading, V Festival - and are now turning a festival experience into a bit of a holiday," he said.

With festivals such as the recent Sonar bash in Barcelona and the mouth-watering Exit festival happening in Serbia it’s little wonder people are packing their bags and flitting off.

However this trend of going on holiday has led to casualties in the UK, with the Wax: On Live do in Leeds being elbowed as well as the Tennant’s Vital festival in Northern Ireland.
