Paul Oakenfold has revealed he is to open up for Madonna at the queen of pop’s upcoming Wembley shindig.

For many DJs, any association with cheese-on-toast pop music is tantamount to digging your own grave but since Oakie has been in the game for donkey’s years some will forgive him, although purists are unlikely to be impressed.

It won’t be the first time the duo have performed at the same do though, as Mr Oakenfold did join Guy Ritchie’s missus on her Confessions tour.

Oakie broke the news to dance music bible Mixmag, saying he was looking forward to giving it a bash and is excited about playing at Wembley.

“I’m really looking forward to opening up for Madonna, it’s an honour to be back with her once again. After playing Slane Castle and Cardiff’s Millenium Stadium it will be great to be back playing at one of my favourite stadiums,” he told the magazine.

Dance music aficionados are unlikely to miss out on any groundbreaking house tunes though, with Madonna’s following made up mostly of teeny boppers and the nostalgic 80s crowd.

So it’s unlikely they’ll be treated to a rare Felix da Housecat bootleg.
