Go-ahead for two-day Creamfields
Halton council has given the green light for the first ever two-day Creamfields festival after security was beefed up.
The event, which will feature acts such as Underworld, Fat Boy Slim and ian Brown will now span the whole weekend and ravers will be able to bring camping equipment and kip on the site, the Liverpool Daily Echo reports.
Police and organisers have massively increased the number of security personnel on the site, which is expected to draw around 40,000 festivalgoers.
The new measures include 500 officers, guards and stewards, more CCTV cameras, heavier searches for drugs and other illegal paraphernalia.
Jim King, the event manager, believes the forthcoming bash can outdo last year’’s festival.
"It was a great success last year and we aim to improve this further and make the festival a safe and enjoyable weekend," he told the newspaper.
The event traditionally runs on the August bank holiday weekend.
