Dance4Life Man Gets Award
Dennis Karpes, director of cool anti HIV/AIDS charity, Dance4Life, which throws huge club events for young people, has been awarded the title of Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum.
He joins Steffi Graf, Shakira, the Queen of Morocco, Prince Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands(!) as one of the 245 people awarded the title this year, out of 5,000 nominations.
Dennis says the title will help spread his charity’s message further than ever before: “We have already had much help from people like Desmond Tutu, Tiësto, and Kofi Annan.
Being a Young Global Leader means I am not only part of an amazing community of like-minded people, but it will open doors to other influential people for Dance4Life.”
The charity started in Holland but has grown to be international, using parties and music to get the massage across. Their next global event is on on 29th November, the finale of Schools4Life in which over 300,000 kids have participated this year.
Uber-DJ Tiesto is one of their ambassadors, penning the 2006 single Dance4Life featuring Faithless singer Maxi Jazz.
Dance4Life will be active in Miami for the Winter Music Conference so we’ll try and catch up with them out there. Full details of our massive Miami coverage are coming up on Monday…
