We thought Ministry of Sound was pretty cool for having its own radio station here at the club… but a bar in Central London has gone one step further today, becoming the first ever in-bar radio station in the UK!

The Carbon Bar began broadcasting on a special limited 2-week licence to the surrounding area in Marble Arch today. Radio Carbon 87.7FM has lined up shows from fast rising DJs like Pete Fergusson and Ed Adoo in the daytime, then after 9pm the bar’s in-house residents stream their sets live rom the impressive bar itself – a space that includes a chained VIP area.

It’s good that the authorities grant licences like this, even if we’d like to see lots more of them - and for longer!

Look out for the inaugural ‘Open Decks Office DJ Championship’ at Carbon - a search for London’s best budding office DJ to be held at the bar next Thurs (31st) from 6.30pm, which has got to be a fun way to start the first big weekend of the new year early…
