The dates have been announced for the next WMC in Miami, Florida, where the dance industry traditionally gathers for a week of parties and welcome winter sunshine.

2008’s event will run from March 25-29, and flights from the UK around this time will get booked up fast, let alone local hotel rooms (who will have already hiked up their prices especially for the occasion). So if you’re thinking of heading over to join the fun, start planning.

Many in dance music have been critical of Miami in recent years, saying it is simply too expensive and has become too huge for them to do any real business. But as an event for clubbers (who never bother with the actual conference part of things), a chance to hear virtually all the world’s top DJs playing in Miami’s many stunning clubs or special poolside gigs is a very tempting prospect.

Just beware of Miami’s notoriously bad door arrangements, which often see hundreds of people arguing to get in to the big clubs, no queueing system to speak of and often entry only going to the high rollers waving the biggest wads of dollars.
