Did you catch the live broadcast of Underworld’s gig at the Roundhouse last night? The band have been releasing special 20min tracks via their Underworldlive website for a while now, but went one better by showing their entire gig for free, yup nadda/zip/zilch/f-all(!) via the site.

We were at the Roundhouse and spotted Pete Tong getting down to Rez in the shadows at the back while Bob Geldof was enthusiastically grooving up in the circle.

The crowd were all hardcore long-term Underworld fans (judging by their age!). They guys next to us had signs with their favourite Karl Hyde lyrics printed on so ‘TINA LIVES IN BERLIN’ or ‘EVERYTHING EVERYTHING’ kept passing around in what would have been a surreal way on any other night.

The gig was a stormer, and Underworld wind up the UK leg of their tour there again tonight before moving on the Europe and Japan.

New LP Oblivion With Bells looks to be a classic in the making too. I thought new single Crocodile was one of the highlights of the evening (and that’s up against some massive old tunes like the crowd pleaser Born Slippy).
