Top 100 DJs Live Broadcast
Broadcasting club nights seems to be experiencing a bit of a renaissance as the technology means it’s easy to pull off, (and actually works) and the YouTube generation (hello?!) are happy to watch TV via computer.
No sooner have Drum&BassArena successfully pulled off the first web AND mobile broadcast from Ministry of Sound than the DJ Magazine Top 100 DJs Poll Party hits the web.
The event, next Wednesday (24/10 9pm – 3 am BST) can be seen via the new Selfcast.com service, which has already been dubbed the “YouTube killer” as it offers anyone the chance to broadcast live, free to as many people as they like for as long as the like.
This kind of broadcasting looks set to dramatically change the way we use our computers yet again, which is pretty exciting and unsettling in equal measure.
For dance fans everywhere, particularly the 350,000 people who voted (or at least people casting the real votes, not all the cheating), being able to see the Top 100 results as they are announced, plus witness DJ sets as they happen from Infected Mushroom, David Guetta, Fedde Le Grand, Sander van Doorn, Danny Howells, James Zabiela & Nic Fancuili, Martin Solveig, Deepgroove and more is a fantastic prospect.
And with controversy surrounding this year’s results already raging, bringing the party live to the web is going to mean the heated debates will be sparked in real time around the world.
Even all those who’ve told us how much they hate the poll won’t be able to resist that prospect!
