After another excellent summer of daytime parties, the secretsundaze residents launch their very own record label today, and we grabbed an interview with both of them about this latest development in their success story. Their Sunday all-dayers have become an absolute clubbing institution. Last weekend’s closing party was their final bash on the Canvas terrace (before the venue makes way for the King’s Cross redevelopment) and was completely mobbed. We spotted loads of DJs and producers getting stuck in to the music, which is a massive seal of approval - after all, it’s rare to see DJs even dance, let alone push their way enthusiastically to the front of the dancefloor! With 6 years of parties now complete, I asked Giles and James if they could remember the absolute highlights. Both said “it’s all a bit of a blur to be honest”, before picking these stand-out hazy memories from their illustrious history…

- Afternoons upstairs at 93 Feet East in the first summer before we lost the venue. - The first roof party on a building in Bacon Street in 2003. Our 2nd year at The Shoreditch Carnival where we had 4000 people dancing in the street was incredible. - Luciano at The Poet pub in 2005 - The Blue Marlin, Ibiza with Ricardo Villalobos, was crazy. It was the busiest party the place has ever seen. The roads were blocked with people just dumping their cars and walking, hearing us in the distance. 2500 of the Ibiza’s finest revellers dancing on the terrace, the beach and all the way down to the sea. - Sonar 2007 party at Parc del Forum in Barcelona. A purpose-built amphitheatre by the sea, with dancing all night under the stars. - There have been some magical moments on The Terrace at Canvas this year (and at the TDK events) and it will be sorely missed. Let us know if you were at any of these classic parties or you have your own favourite moments. Check out the interview for the history of the parties, how they’ve managed to keep the vibe special while growing, starting the label and their all time favourite SS tunes. I sadly forgot to grill Giles about the growing of that huge moustache though.
James even offers producers who make the kind of deep, groovy techno and house they are famed for to get in touch if you have tunes that might be good the new label…
